Georgia State Lunch and Learn with HHACB Recap

Georgia-State-Lunch-and-LearnA month or so back I shared with you an organization, HHACB (High Heels and Combat Boots), Inc whose mission is to provide supportive services to homeless veteran women with or without children and they have recently participated in a Lunch and Learn at Georgia State University that I would like to share with you.

HHACB is known for working with homeless women veterans decided to work with the students of Georgia State University to impact their lives and make a difference. Executive Director Markeisha Brown states “this is a huge epidemic, it is our civic responsibility to help our homeless veterans in need”.

The Georgia State University lunch and learn took place on October 9, 2015 from 11am-1:30pm in the Dehlberg Hall. The event was put together to educate students and Veterans on resume writing, interview preparation and job search success. Markeisha helped evaluate resumes and also spoke on the do’s and dont’s of the interview process.

The event was a success. One of the most memorable moments Markeisha recants is something a homeless veteran spoke to her about. He told her “organizations do not want to hire homeless people”. HHACB, Inc. is an organization on a mission to break down these barriers. We are determined to make a difference for those that have served our country.

To find out more information on this initiative with HHACB contact Amanda in the Communications Department at (678)558-0018.

HHACB, Inc, develops, evaluates and implements a wide range of rehabilitative and therapeutic programs specifically tailored to the needs of homeless veteran women in order to provide opportunities for social welfare and self-development. While providing honorable services, U.S. women soldiers were met with mental health, and financial challenges.
