Fight On Soldier

Isn’t that just how the devil works, we hear a powerful word of Revelation from the Man of God (Pastor) and not even 24 hours later the fight starts. Pastor mentioned how the devil will try to attack you in the area of which you say to yourself, “I have conquered that!”

Literally less than 24 hours later, after getting my hubby off to work I decided to take a nap before really starting my day and then the thoughts came to mind, “You can do this which was something I would have done prior to being saved.” I was about to do it too, but then I looked over to my left and saw a door close, (keep in mind that the door to the closet was open and it is a sliding door, and it was like it was replaced with a door and it shut). It startled me and that quickly stopped the thought and stopped me from doing that thing I did not want to do. Weird, I know, but I took it as Father God helping me and saying, “I am closing the door to that and I am giving you a way of escape.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 in NIV says: No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Don’t make the mistake I did in thinking that the enemy will leave me alone in my sleep. He does not play fair; never has and never will, so after that I was taking my little nap and all of a sudden, some crazy thoughts start coming to my head, once again, they sounded like me but it was the devil talking to me in my dreams to get me to do something else that I did not want to do. I was actually having a conversation with him in my head, he brought images and everything. It was freaky, but that is what he does; comes against one in their minds, but anyway, he was trying to get me to say what my line in the sand was. He wanted me to say what it would take for me to give in so he can see me fall. What I mean is, for example, if you say to yourself in your head or out loud if he/she says one more thing to me then I will say or do this and then it ends up happening. Have you ever thought about why that occurs? You willingly gave the devil/your/our enemy the ammunition. You told him what it would take.

If there are things that all of a sudden come to your mind and you know you did not think it, it could be the enemy (sometimes it is not crystal), but test it against the Word of God and that will give you a good indication who sent the thought. It may sound like you or it can be someone you know all too well, but do not just accept it. Remember, even our Savior was tempted and He fought back by using the Word of God and said, “It is written…” See Matthew 4:4-10.

Warning!!! This example is a little strong:

Step 1: A happily married woman that you are has a thought that just comes to your head while you are at work saying, “Hmm, he is cute. I should sleep with him.” That is one of those fiery darts that the Bible warns us about in Ephesians 6:16, however start the passage in Ephesians 6:13, where the Bible is talking about putting on the full armor of God. If we keep ourselves protected like the Bible says, there is less of a chance that the enemy will succeed in getting you to disobey Father God.

Step 2: You start thinking about what it would take for that to happen (you are not only in the gun store, but going down the aisle choosing the gun and bullets); Saying to yourself, “The pink gun is kinda cute.”

Step 3: Then because you made it known by actually taking the time to say it to someone else (friend) and/or talk back to the devil (but you think it is you), it happens, it presents itself and you all have such a conversation that leads to arranging the act (he is in that 3 piece suit, smelling good, and took the time to say more than 5 sentences to you) and there it is, you have made it back to the front of the store and at the register.

Step 4: You take the time to make arrangements with this man and meet with him and the act occurs (you have given the devil the gun with the bullets and said, “Here shoot me!!!”)

I admit that it was a strong example, but it makes the point, that we have an enemy and just the every so slightest things we think nothing about or think they are nothing (seemingly so innocent), are actually something behind the scenes. Trust me every conversation you have with someone or even yourself out loud (pondering) the devil hears you and can take full advantage of it and use it against you.

How can you counter that:

  1. Just know that the weapons will keep coming after you, but they will not prosper. Isaiah 54:17 KJV No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.
  2. James 4:7 KJV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  3. 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
  4. Focus on Godly thoughts, Philippians 4:8 KJV Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
    It is easier said than done, trust me I know. I did not do such a great job then, but later on the same day, when he came again I took the steps and decided to fight back with the Word. No one said he will not come against you, but God always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 2:14 KJV says Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Please do not forget that as Christians we are in a constant war. Fight, don’t just take it and surrender. Christ overcame, as it says in John 16:33 KJV, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Revelation 12:11, KJV says And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Jesus Christ overcame and we can too.
Fight on brother and sisters.
