Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month – Trejos Tacos

Being able to celebrate our differences is one thing that makes us great. All of us are different, but yet the same in so many ways. In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, I wanted to share a little bit with you about one of my hubby’s favorite people, Danny Trejo.

On one of our favorite trips (Palm Springs California), we took the time on our last day to take a 5-6 hour tour of Los Angeles and some of the surrounding areas. On that tour, we had the pleasure of stopping and eating at the Farmer’s Market and we chose Trejo’s Tacos owned by his favorite bad guy, but in real life a good guy.

I recently seen an interview he had on Hallmark’s Home and Family show, and was sharing how his new venture, Trejo’s Donuts and got his start in the acting field. It was a wonderful story and adding to it was the touching part about him always keeping something in his car to help the less fortunate. He shared about being blessed and how it wasn’t just for him to be selfish, but spread love to others. Awesome right?

Back to our foodie experience, we unfortunately did not see him, but we were able to try a few tasty treats: grilled chicken quesadilla and shrimp taco. All of which were good, but with what’s going on we are not comfortable with back there just yet, but guess what, you can still experience some of that great flavor, by making in safety and comfort of your own home with the Trejos Tacos cookbook.

I love this guy, if he is in anything want to see it. And now I feel the same way about his restaurant, if I see it I have to go in! Great food and such a pleasure to benefit from his vision. I need to try the donuts now.
