All of us can relate to having to have to bend for some reason or another. All of have had some traumatic event or events in our lives that caused us to really wonder what will come of this? Is this trying to break me or will I let it break me?

I am here to share with you that although you may go through some things in your life, you do not have to break, only bend.

Bend: When Life Dares You To break is by Beth Lueders and she has taken the stories of some very courageous individuals who share their stories of Bending and not breaking.

About Bend: When Life Dares You To break

There are 10 chapters and each chapter is a story of an individual or individuals that have dealt with challenges and in each have questioned, of course, that all to familiar, “Why me?” What could be different is whether or not one comes out bigger and better on the other side or cave. These are stories of ones that did not cave. They chose to bend utilizing their faith.

Bend has pictures within the chapters of the people, so one can relate more with them. They are real people with real problems, with a real God that helped them land on the other side of their challenges.

Add the end of the 10 chapters, there is a More to the Story section, where Beth digs deeper into the story and shares with us.

I’ve had an illness for over a year and its hard to climb stairs and I have an upstairs apartment. I have no appetite so eating is a chore and I’ve lost weight. After about 8 months I put it in Gods hands. I started a new diet and I’m exercising again. I feel much better but, I was just too stubborn to admit I needed help.

When one of my children had to be placed in a psych hospital multiple times. I thought I’d break completely, but have persevered through it. And what followed was more hospitalizations for TWO of my children.

For nearly 5 years, I suffered with various health issues that my NP and the MD over her couldn’t figure it out. I changed doctors and still, they couldn’t make anything of it. In fact, I was told that it was “in my head”. Then on July 4th, 2017, I was in such extreme pain that my husband had to call for an ambulance. Turns out, my tubes had grown back together 11 years after I’d had a tubal. One of the tubes had a small hole in it. I was miscarrying for 5 years and this time, one had implanted on the outside of my tube. When they finally discovered the problem at the hospital, as they were preparing the OR for my surgery, the tube exploded and I nearly died from internal bleeding. That moment made me reevaluate my life and what I was living for. After my surgery, I literally had people tell me that they’d rather I had died. It brought me to such a dark, terrifying place in life. God stepped in and saved me (again!).

A cheating husband – who I helped gain primary custody of his teenage children; who I helped clean up his credit report; who moved when he lost his job and on and on. On the other side now.

The loss of my entire family should have broke me but I was eventually able to bend with it.
