The Life We Never Expected Book Review and Giveaway

The-Life-We-Never-Expected

Being in the field that I am (assisting those with disabilities/challenges to work), I am able to see all types of productive and loving individuals caring for their friends and loved ones when they come in the office. At this point, however I do not see a lot of the behind the scenes interaction of the guardians/parents with their special needs child or children. I get to see them once they are grown or almost grown and depending on the disability I can imagine what the caretakers had to go through, but only a glimpse of it.

Andrew and Rachel Wilson share with us in The Life We Never Expected, the life of a family loving children with special needs (autism) including all of the feelings and thoughts that come with it (joy and pain).  They share their daily challenges while still maintaining their relationship with Christ and allowing it to guide and direct them daily. They are very encouraging and use and cling to God’s Word. They help show you how to continue to fight for joy even while you are given the life you never expect.

All of us need to subscribe to this way of life and that is that the best way to love your kids and anyone else is to love God first. He can teach us how to love others properly and depending on the needs of the person sometimes differently. He can show us that maybe some people need more grace and mercy than others when you are dealing/interacting with them.
