The League and The Lantern: Review and Giveaway

The-League-and-the-Lantern

The League and the Lantern is the first book in a new adventure series for middle-school readers. It all starts when a dangerous organization invades Jake Herndon’s seventh-grade sleepover. He escapes along with two new classmates, Lucy and TJ, only to face a 48-hour fight for survival on the streets of Chicago. The kids unravel a mystery dating back to the Civil War, and an incredible secret about Jake’s family. Along the way they learn unexpected lessons about courage, family and friendship.

From the first chapter, this book manages to take you on a ride in the backpack of a now 7th grader who attempts to make this year of school his best, seeing as though this 6th grade year totally needed a do-over.

Now not to give too much of my awkwardness away, but as a pre-teen and teenager life was always that pleasant. I, like Jake, was a bit different, heck, I had the braces, glasses (they were name brand though), old school bag from my dad that he used when he went to college not so many years earlier and on top of it I developed late. Gosh what a combination. There were times when I got home from school that I wanted to escape and wished there were books like The League and the Lantern. Which is an adventure series your kids will want to read and probably see themselves or someone they know in the book.  140 key vocabulary words hidden throughout the story, historic sites are part of the setting.

Not all books manage to have lessons in them that you can use in your daily life like, compassion and the need for family and friendships and you find that this wonderful hero, Jake Herndon will experience these lessons and many more.

Once you start reading, you will not want to stop. You can just imagine what happens to this kid when he gets to high school. Gosh, I do not want to talk about those times either…

I am always up for promoting great causes and there is a buy one – give one campaign to get books into the hands of kids who cannot afford their own copies of this book, so please click ⇒League and Lantern Book
