Friday Funday

Friday-Funday

A majority of the working world cannot wait for Friday to come so that they can get their weekend started. This was a weekend that I had been waiting for, but I did not exactly count on my Friday Funday being like this…..

As promised, a follow up to the Georgia March for life post, hubby and I requested off Friday so that we can attend a pro-life march at Liberty Plaza in Downtown Atlanta, but we did not expect it to be like this. We prepared or at least so we thought by wearing layers and gym shoes, but I did not think that out completely. It was a rainy and cold Friday and our day started around 8:00 am by picking up our brother in Christ so that we can go to the march together.

It was just a little bit of rain and somewhat cold, but it was not bad at all until a wee bit later. We arrived at church to meet the rest of the family and based upon what they had on we were dressed properly.

The first thing that I noticed as we approached Downtown Atlanta that there were not a lot of people out at Liberty Plaza or out period. The night before on the news it was mentioned that the weather was going to be quite bad including having some schools close early and some businesses closed early as well. I can imagine that many people stayed home because of the threat of heavy snow, icy patches and freezing temperatures.

We got off of the bus and took our signs and proceeded to Liberty Plaza where the event was taking place.

As you see other pro-life supporters were there all buttoned up along with a sea of umbrellas towering over most attendees’ heads. I wanted to be as close as possible to help show my support and prove that I wasn’t scared to be on the grass. Ha!! What a funny, because as I mentioned I had on gym shoes and those puppies barely kept my feet warm after hitting that cold, wet grass. I did not get a lot of pictures because frankly my hands were cold and I was trying to keep them as warm as I could. The praise and worship was wonderful and it was a headed by a lone man with his keyboard. He was actually from the church that played last year at the march. You can hear others praising God and singing along with him.

Pastor-Mike-Stone Below is a snippet of Pastor Mike Stone’s speech and it was powerful and full of passion. We did not stay for the march portion of the program however, but in my heart I did and I do believe God was pleased with what we did. Most of the family that went with us had wet feet and hands so for safety of the older adults and children with us, it was determined that we would go ahead and leave. Much appreciation to all of the people who marched around Downtown Atlanta after we left.

We eventually arrived back at the church and parted ways from our family and headed home. We were on to the other part of our Friday Funday, which was to watch one of our other brother’s from church in a NFC Fight.  I have never heard of NFC persa, but I knew it was going to be fun and hopefully not full of blood. I am one for watching boxing so this was not too far off and as long as it was not mine nor my hubby’s blood I was going to be okay. The night was full of emotional ups and downs but truly fun. We showed our support by sporting our custom made t-shirts given to us from another brother of ours, Mdyzn.

Our brother, Viper, did not win according to the judges, but in our hearts he did. See exclusive pictures of Viper and his fight below shared from, MMA Mayhem Radio.

I think the fights were somewhat fixed. It seemed that if you were not from Georgia you lost, but that is just how I saw it. One of the highlights was to see the UFC referee, Big John McCarthy refereeing some of the matches.

NFC-ReadySee the video below for snippets of all of the videos that I recorded that day. I hope your Friday was a Friday Funday as well and I will see you again soon.

Oops, I almost forgot to tell you, one of the highlights this weekend was hubby and I finding out that we were in the AJC online paper. Check it out here: AJC Online
