Daylight savings time is fast upon us and with that you know what that means? It means that it is time to prepare for Spring. The time where things come alive and with it, it is always time to experience new things. I have already started experiencing that thanks to Association of Food Bloggers. I was invited to try the new menu offerings celebrating the Chinese New Year at Tin Drum Asia Cafe.

For those of you who do not know, Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for some Chinese (in Taiwan, Singapore, etc.) and it is an old tradition that celebrates gods and ancestors. Tin Drum, which gets it’s name from the legend Tin Drummer from the streets of Asia that managed to single-handedly gather together people everywhere he went as he played his tin drum. His goal?  Cause people to all kinds and ages of people to fellowship with each other and what else, EAT!!

Tin Drum’s Asian Inspired Menu manages to put together many complex flavors found in Asian cooking perfectly, but not every restaurant can do that and it is one reason why this restaurant is unique.

With Chinese New Year going on, Corporate Chef Kirk Biondi created some extra special dishes that I want to pass along to you:

We were allowed to order an entree along with two items from the special tasting menu. The brown rice was the best that I have ever and I mean ever had. It was so good that my hubby decided that he had to have more than I did. It was so good, I made a short play song about it ⇒My Play Tin Drum Brown Rice Song

Peking Short Rib Noodles, tender short ribs prepared in a sweet and savory sauce with glaze carrots, red onion, soba noodles, bok choy, chopped green onion, and roasted garlic. Who can resist this. I even had to breakout with the chopsticks. Was I successful? Well that is a different story.

If your taste is not for noodles, well that if fine because the Tin Drum has you covered. Here is the second limited-time only selection: Chinatown-Short-Rib-Tacos-Tin-DrumLook at that!! Doesn’t it make your mouth just water. Chinatown Short Rib Tacos, two grilled flour tortillas filled with the BBQ short ribs, a few glazed carrots, red onion, roasted garlic (which makes everything taste better),  bok choy, cabbage slaw and green onion.

You will not go wrong with either selection, but hurry because they will not be available for long, in fact April 3rd is the last day:(

When I hear Chinese New Year from now on, I will reminisce on this wonderful menu and atmosphere, but this will not be my last time at Tin Drum. There are several locations in Georgia, so Come Celebrate Chinese New Year with Tin Drum you will not be disappointed. Thanks again
