“Citizens Market” shows how compassion wins

Citizens-Market-Horizon-Theatre

Hurry get your tickets now. This is the last week for “Citizens Market” at the Horizon Theatre in Atlanta.

In my previous post about this outstanding performance,  I shared that it is a play about some hopeful group of immigrants as they form an unlikely family, working to master the ups and downs of language, love, and staying afloat in their world.

We all can use some of what they shared throughout this play and that was compassion. “Citizens Market” shows how compassion wins and how everyone no matter their backstory matter. Everyone has some type of dream whether they are born here or immigrated here, we all have a dream. Sit down with one another. Take the time to say hello. Conversation can cause even the most unlikely people to become family/friends as it did in this play.

As with all of the plays at Horizon Theatre, you will leave either laughing, crying, shocked, or thought provoked. “Citizens Market” made me do all of them. There were several times that I had in my mind how the play was going to end, but once again I was shocked and it ended totally different than expected.

Citizens Market runs until June 24. Performances are Wednesday through Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25-$45 and prices increase as performances sell out, so get your tickets early.  Seating is general admission, but patrons can upgrade to the VIP experience for an additional $15, which includes reserved seating and a complimentary beverage. Tickets and information are available at horizontheatre.com or 404.584.7450.
