The reason for this holiday season is love and to be able to show love to others and one way we all manage to show love is by giving gifts.
How about this year we give gifts that can help others here in the United States and abroad? With a selection from World Vision’s Gift Catalog, the receiver will be happy as well as the ones in need that are being helped by your gift.
There are lots of people in poverty and are suffering injustices around the world and this is one way of helping others that will make an impact.

I received two copies of Talking To Jesus for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review and to facilitate a giveaway. This post does contain affiliate links. #ad #talkingtoJesus
About Talking to Jesus:
Talking to Jesus: A Fresh Perspective on Prayer by Jeannie Blackmer (November, 2017) blends fictional storytelling techniques with sound truths from stories in the book of Matthew. Her hope is to bring these stories alive in a way that can refresh our prayer life and give us a new praying perspective. Though, this is not a formulaic, how-to-pray book. Jeannie believes that prayer is a personal and unique experience for every person.
Each chapter opens right in the middle of the action and takes you all the way up to when the person has their encounter with Jesus. Jesus’s Words are never altered, nor is the dialogue from the person to Jesus. The author then moves you into a Personal Response space where you can see how our lives today mirror the problems of ancient days. Followed by scriptures to reflect on, and closes with an Observation area for you to answer.
Jeanne brings the reader in and so much so that you are able to put your name in the prayers making them so practical. Prayer is talking with God, but not forgetting the part where He talks back. My favorite verse that I would use for substituting my name in is: Jeremiah 1:5 which says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Father God was talking to Jeremiah the Prophet and like him I have doubts at times that I can be used and that Father actually sees me as special. My small substitution would be, “Before I formed Serena in the womb I knew you, before you were born Serena I set you apart; etc. See how easy that was and you can do it too.
Prayer is one of the easiest ways to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus which is something that I know I need more of. I need more of Him and Talking To Jesus can help.
Would you like a chance to have a copy for yourself or a friend? Here is your chance:
What is your favorite Bible verse that you like to substitute your name in?
I was given this Bible to review for B&H Publishing by FrontGate Media. While I was given the Bible for free all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am ashamed to say that I have many Bibles with different versions so you will get a clearer understanding depending on which one you use and normally for me it would be the Amplified version. To hear that She Reads Truth has a Bible, but in Christian Standard, I had to jump on it for 2 reasons. The first is due to it being She Reads Truth, come on what female would not want it due to the excellent reputation that She Reads Truth studies have and who does not need another version of the Bible as part of one’s Bible Study.
It is a hard cover, beautifully designed, colorful, dainty and full of Truth and I am excited about using it a lot more in 2018. Great for everyone no matter where you are on your faith walk.
Some of the features include:

Still looking for the perfect Christmas gift for the avid inspirational reader in your life? You may want to check out: Take The Lid Off from Christian Musician, and now Pastor Smokie Norful. His music is beautiful, the book is one to add to your library. It is a guide to help one to go from one level to the next.
About the book:
When the pressure of life seems to boil over – and it does for everyone – Pastor and Grammy-winning musician Smokie Norful has one piece of advice: take the lid off. This concept was inspired by watching his grandmother make her signature dish of sweet rice. When the heat got too high, the pot began hissing and boiling over, like it was about to explode and create panic. His Grandmother would remind him the only way to avoid an eruption is to remove the lid. Like that pot of rice, the only way to avoid an emotional overload is to take our own lids off — that is, to stop being trapped inside ourselves and instead look to God and his grace to show us the strategy that makes us all he intends us to be, and serve him in the way he has called us to.
This is the premise behind Norful’s new book Take the Lid Off: Trust God, Release the Pressure, and Find the Life He Wants for You (Thomas Nelson, September 17, 2017). In Take the Lid Off, Norful — who is the founder and pastor of Victory Cathedral Worship Center, a congregation of 5,000 members with three campuses in the Chicagoland area — outlines four steps to take to relieving the pressure and drawing closer to God in the process:
Look Outward, seeking for others to experience the joy of living for God and have the best God has to offer
Look Upward and marvel at God’s love and strength to accomplish his purposes
Move Onward, devising a strategy to accomplish all God has put in our hearts to do
All 4 of these sections are very important, but nowadays most seem to be so me centered that we miss what is going on in front of us and the opportunities to help others. We are not here on this Earth just for me, mine and ours. What about them, theirs and those?
As long as you have breath, there is always a chance to do and be better. Why not chose that today?
More gift ideas coming soon:)
I can kinda understand if you have not heard of the following: House of Payne or For Better or Worse, but if you have not heard of Madea and all of her shaniegans I want to ask one question: “Where have you been hiding?”
Tyler Perry, the man behind all of the above and then some has done something that I have on my bucketlist to do one day and that is to write a book and impact people in a positive way. He has done such a thing and it has dropped today!! Tyler’s book, Higher Is Waiting, he speaks about the challenges in life and it is meant to inspire readers to climb higher in their own lives and pull themselves up to a better, more fulfilling place. If you know any part of his back story, you know what he has been through and how it has made him a stronger and more caring individual in spite of some of the obstacles which some of us probably could not bare, but God!!!
I have not had a chance to read it yet as it arrived today, but I have heard him speak and if any of what I heard is in the book then we are in for some laughter and some tears.
Please pass this contest along. This may be the book someone needs to help push them in the next direction they need to go in life.
Stay tuned for more reviews, giveaways and more.
Disclosure: Sharing this PSA (blogpost) for Foundation for Fighting Blindness via FrontGate in exchange for compensation.
Since the year of my birth, 1971, Foundation Fighting Blindness has provided funding for research on cures for blindness with intense focus on AMD. In fact, with the research FFB has already made possible, treatments to stop and in some cases even reverse retinal disease is a reality. This is great news for people over 55 and their families. With AMD it is nearly impossible for grandparents to enjoy the little things in life such as playing games, watching movies and one of my favorites, when I was little, reading to their grandchildren. I know I used to enjoy being able to do things with my grandparents and would have missed out had they had this battle.
Download the FREE PDF Packet as part of the Driving Research & Saving Sight campaign that is being used to increase public awareness of AMD. The packet shares everything you want to know and more about Age-Related Macular Degeneration which includes causes, what it is, treatment, etc. Those that are over 55 and their families that care to save sight are encouraged to download this material! Speak to your family and friends about this. Once the vision goes it is challenging to get it back. Spread the word about AMD and possibly save the vision of someone you love.
Foundation Fighting Blindness has a video with more information ⇓
Do you or your family member suffer from AMD? If so, how are you/they coping with it? How is your eye health? What do you do to take care of your eyes?
Matthew wrote his new album All In with the goal of encouraging himself and others to get up off the sidelines of their faith and really live it out – to go all in in your time with God, all in with your family, all in with your community, and all in battling your fears that may hold you back from becoming who God made you to be. Along that same theme, Matthew currently has a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media and each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives.
What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most?
After listening to the album, my favorite song is The Beautiful Things We Miss and it because it made me think about all of the time I missed out on being with loved ones because my view and focus was off. The things that matter are eternal things not this temporary stuff that gets us off track. That is one thing about this album, it makes you think and hopefully get you to do some introspection and see if you can honestly say if you are all in or not.
